Post-Doc Position – Mesostructured nanoxides for photoelectrochemical devices

BC: 68450

The Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (CBN@UniLE) in Lecce is activating a procedure for the selection of n. 1 Post-doc position to work in the framework of the national project “MAAT” (PON R&C 2007-2013 -  n. 713/Ric. 29/10/2010 –project’s title: Molecular NAnotechnology for HeAlth and EnvironmenT “MAAT”; Nanotecnologie molecolari per la salute dell'uomo e l'ambiente; project code PON02_00563_3316357; CUP: B31C12001230005; PI: Prof. Giuseppe Gigli )

In 2009 IIT started up a multifaceted line of strategic research activities on dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) that covers a wide range of scientific and technological issues from the understanding of physical phenomena at nanoscale to the development of large scale solutions for building integration. This research line has been structured to address the most crucial and meaningful aspects concerning fabrication technologies and cell architectures as well as to provide an accurate analysis of both the electric and electrochemical key features of the DSCs.

In this framework the successful candidate will set-up, plan and carry out the experimental work necessary for the photoelectrochemical devices fabrication and characterization while being part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.

The main aim of the work will be to design and synthesize high quality nanoxides with controlled size and shape as well as to conveniently process them for the preparation of advanced mesostructured electrodes which will be finally implemented into a novel class of engineered photoelectrochemical devices.

The successful candidate will operate in a world-class laboratory equipped with a wide range of both fabrication and characterization facilities devoted to the realization of novel photoelectrochemical devices and to their photophysical, electrical and electrochemical characterization.

Good team working skills in an international environment is also required as well as fluent speaking and writing in English, which is essential. Travelling abroad is part of the research work and could include some period of time spent in a different city/country.

The candidate should motivate himself/herself to make something work better both in routine operation and for research and he/she should strive for realizing good results with his/her team to contribute to the results of the unit.

The successful candidate for this post should have a strong background in disciplines such as Materials Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

The application should include a statement of research interests, CV with publication list and at least 2 letters of recommendation to be sent electronically to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Please apply before May 30th, 2013.

The Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT – was established in 2005 and successfully created the large scale infrastructure in Genova, a network of 10 state of the art laboratories countrywide, recruited an international staff of about 1000 people from more than 30 countries.

IIT's research endeavor focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences, and nanobiotechnologies.

In order to comply with the Italian law (art. 23 of Privacy Law of the Italian Legislative Decree n. 196/03), we have to kindly ask the candidate to give his/her consent to allow IIT to process his/her personal data.
